About Fight The Stigma

Fight The Stigma unites more than 30 of Northern Colorado's premier musicians and artists. They perform outdoors in a dual-stage format to spotlight the critical need to challenge the stigma associated with addiction and mental health issues. Engage with local thought leaders, politicians, artists, musicians, healthcare workers, teachers, and others who are passionate about spreading the 'Fight the Stigma' message—all set to the rhythm of exceptional music.

This is an all-ages, donation-based event. Additional exhibitions and events will take place throughout the day. The vendor expo will showcase local organizations and food and beverage sales. This great event gets our community together for fun, connection, and purpose in the family-friendly atmosphere of the Lyric Cinema amphitheater.

“Fight the Stigma!” is anchored by the trio of Psychiatrist Eric Strauminus, MD; Psychotherapist Marty J. Rein, Ph.D., M.Ed., LPC, CAS; and Addiction Physician Jeremy Dubin, DO, FASAM. The vision for this event finds inspiration from a shared call for urgency. It has galvanized a mission that speaks to the importance for us as a community to create safe spaces and attitudes towards those who might be hesitant to seek help and to be receptive to the different courses recovery can take for each of us.

  • The urgency of our cause is underscored by the alarming increase in Colorado's drug overdose death rate, which jumped from 16.1 per 100,000 in 2011 to 31 per 100,000 in 2021 (Source: Kaiser).

Additionally, in 2021, Colorado's age-adjusted suicide rate exceeded the national average (Source: Kaiser)

The stress on our youth is evident; in the Poudre School District in 2021, approximately half of the students reported unmanageable stress, over 40% felt so despondent they ceased their usual activities, and 1 in 5 high school students seriously contemplated suicide (Source: CDPHE).

  • Your contributions directly uplift the community. They support local artists, bolster the initiatives of Blast N Scrap, and aid Northern Colorado Access Point in securing harm reduction supplies. Rest assured, every dollar you contribute is reinvested in your community, fueling positive change and growth.
